The secret to our success at G.S. Proctor & Associates has always been building a strong team. Talent, dedication and a commitment to service are the essential traits that we look for, and you’ll see it across every position at our firm.

We are especially proud of our current team, and we believe it’s the best we’ve ever had across more than two decades of serving our clients and our communities. So we want to shine the spotlight on our team members to help you get to know all the people who are working so hard to make big things happen.

It was an easy choice to select Chief Administrative Officer Charlita Proctor as the first person to highlight. She brings so many important qualities to our team and, after nearly 17 years, we know that we can rely on her to accomplish any task set before her.

She’s always relaxed and cool under pressure — maybe because she’s got a large print of a tropical beach scene behind her desk. No doubt the best Zoom background at G.S. Proctor & Associates!

What is your current position at G.S. Proctor & Associates?

I am the Chief Administrative Officer at G.S. Proctor. I handle the day-to-day operations of our offices, contracts and invoicing, event sponsorships, community donations, special requests, client and company entertainment, and I work closely with our CFO on human resource matters. Also, if anyone on the team needs help with tasks, I make myself available.

How long have you worked for G.S. Proctor & Associates?

This June will mark my 17th year with G.S. Proctor. It’s been exciting to watch the company evolve into what it is today and to be part of even more opportunities in the future. I love being a part of such a dynamic team and working with so many interesting partners and community stakeholders around the County, State and DMV area.

What other positions have you held here?

1st Position: Receptionist/Administrative Assistant – General receptionist duties, and helped the Office Manager with any tasks.

2nd Position: Office Manager – Handled the day-to-day operations of our offices, handled our President/CEO’s calendar, event sponsorships, and took care of client/company requests and entertainment events.

What gets you excited to start work each day?

Interacting with our clients and learning new things gets me excited to start work each day. I am a very bubbly and thoughtful person and I like to be as personable as possible while over the phone or via email with our clients, and our community partners. It truly makes my day if I can put a smile on someone’s face. With our wide-array of clients, and their brilliant minds, we are constantly obtaining new information and new ways of accomplishing our goals.

What professional accomplishment are you most proud of?

Being a part of the growth of the premier minority-owned and operated lobbying firm in the State and Region has been a real pleasure. There are so many big and small victories that went into that. I am proud of our team and grateful to be a part of what G.S. Proctor & Associates, Inc. has become.

In your view, what makes G.S. Proctor & Associates such a successful firm?

Our professionalism and the meaningful relationships that we’ve cultivated over the years makes G.S. Proctor successful. I think our team has been able to do what we do because of how we make people feel. People come to us with problems and tight timelines. It is our goal to have them leave every interaction knowing that we’ve heard their concern, understand the processes, and will communicate often with them until their issue has been resolved. We don’t take anything for granted and really appreciate every one of our clients and partners that we work with on a daily basis.

Best advice you were ever given?

The best advice that I was ever given, which was when I started out in the workforce, was to never think of a job as just a job. Starting out at a young age, your main reason for needing a job was to have money so that you could have fun. You show up late, leave on time, and collect a paycheck. As you mature, and move on to greater opportunities, you realize that in your position your team members and the people you serve truly rely on you to help carry out the main objectives of any organization. What you thought was just a job is now something that you have grown to love with a passion and that you have a niche for. Knowing that gave me a deeper appreciation of my duties no matter what I was doing. I genuinely care for the well-being of others and will always do my part.

What are your favorite things to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I like to have fun with family, travel, watch movies, read, try new cuisines and recipes, party plan, and stargaze and learn about Astronomy (specifically, the moon).

What are you most looking forward to doing when pandemic restrictions ease up?

When everything is fully up and running, I look forward to traveling. My two young daughters love nothing more than to stay at different hotels and jump in the pool. They are big adventurers!
