Professional basketball player Maurice “Mo” Creek, a Prince George’s County native, was playing in the Ukrainian Basketball SuperLeague when hostilities broke out. He faced a harrowing journey to escape the embattled nation.

A group of local leaders, including Prince George’s County Council Chairman Calvin Hawkins, Bladensburg Councilmember Jocelyn Route, Senator Ben Cardin and Rep. Anthony Brown, worked behind the scenes to bring him home.

Creek finally arrived back in the States on Thursday. On Saturday, G.S. Proctor & Associates was proud to co-sponsor a Welcome Home Celebration for Creek.

Hawkins, Route and Sweet Tooth Cakes and Pastries also sponsored the event. We’re thankful that Creek is home safe and grateful for everyone who helped make it happen.

G.S. Proctor Team with Mayor Muriel Bowser

The G.S. Proctor & Associates team was honored to host a special luncheon last week featuring District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser.

Dozens of local leaders and dignitaries joined us at the Ronald Reagan Building on Thursday for the chance to network and hear Bowser’s take on the city’s successes and challenges, as well as her areas of focus heading into November’s mayoral election.

Bowser, who has held office since 2015, spoke about issues such as COVID recovery and infrastructure, enhancing education and business diversity, as well as public safety and caring for the vulnerable in the city.

“Getting the chance to spend time with Mayor Bowser is always a pleasure,” G.S. Proctor & Associates President and CEO Steve Proctor said. “We want to thank everyone who helped make the luncheon possible. We left the event feeling energized about the future of the city and our entire region.”
